Zeina Jallad Charpentier joined Samaan Ziadeh & Partners Law Firm as a Senior Partner in 2016. She is a lawyer, researcher and lecturer in Law, with over 15 years of experience in legal research and consulting in Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Tunisia, Egypt, Turkey, Switzerland, and the United States. Ms. Jallad Charpentier is a dual Palestinian and French citizen expanding her practice area further.
Ms. Jallad Charpentier provides high quality technical assistance in various areas that include: providing trainings, creating manuals or curricula, conducting studies and assessments, designing strategies, managing multi-jurisdictional surveys, and drafting policy papers. She serves Palestinian clients in diaspora, mainly from the United States, Europe, Jordan and Lebanon with regard to land and property disputes. While she also provides services to major international, regional and domestic entities, including United Nations agencies (IIIM, UNDP, UN Women, UNHCR, OHCHR and UNICEF), various human rights organizations, (Open Society Foundation, International Center for Transitional Justice, Terre des Hommes) and other regional organizations like the Jordanian Judicial Training Institute and Tamkeen in Jordan, and Legal Agenda in Lebanon, as well as Palestinian institutions including the Ministry of Justice, The High Judicial Council of Palestine, UN Women and The European Mission to the Palestinian Authority.
She previously managed the biggest donor funded project to develop the Palestinian Bar Association (PBA), and headed Continuing Education Department as well as the Graduate Diploma Program in Practical and Legal Skills at the Institute of Law at Birzeit University. She also ran multiple courses in the field of criminal law, gender justice, international law and research methodologies in the United States at Columbia University, and in Palestine at both Birzeit University and Al-Quds University.
Ms. Jallad Charpentier has been a member of the PBA since 2004 and the New York City Bar Association (NYC Bar) since 2012– where she served as the Secretary of the Middle East and North Africa Committee. She obtained her Bachelor’s in Law from the University of Jordan, a Graduate Diploma in Legal Studies from Birzeit University in Palestine, and an LL.M from Columbia University in New York City. She is currently completing her Doctorate (J.S.D.) at Columbia Law School.
